The login cap for characters has since been raised, along with the implementation of a shorter AFK timer of 30 minutes. Until the influx of adventurers dissipates, the character creation restriction in FFXIV will most likely remain, but there are some solutions to the problem. The development team recognized the problem adventurers would face around the release of Endwalker and did what they could to optimize the servers. The global shortage of semi-conductors has proven to be the root cause as to why new servers have yet to be created. Players of Endwalker are receiving the message error 2002 because too many characters are trying to log in to a specific World or Data Center at once. The FFXIV character creation restriction is a result of the lack of server space for the number of adventurers. Related: Why FFXIV: Endwalker Is Kicking Players Out During Cutscenes These factors and the rising popularity of the game have led to Worlds being overcrowded and for a FFXIV character creation restriction to take place. However, Patch 4.57 introduced the World Visit System for players to temporarily log in to a different server and play with friends. Originally, adventurers also had limited options for interactions with others from different Worlds, such as duties. Before Endwalker, players on different Data Centers could not complete activities with each other. When adventurers join a populated World, they are, most likely, choosing to create a character for one of two reasons: to join a friend or to play on a busy server.
